Every student in schools run by the Delhi government will gain the basic ability to read by November 14, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said Saturday, while unveiling the road map of the Delhi government’s ‘Chunauti Scheme’.

The movement was launched by the AAP government to improve the learning ability of students, after a recent survey revealed that most students of Class VI in its schools were unable to read. Sisodia, who is also in charge of the education department, said, “We conducted an assessment of our students… we found that 74 per cent of students can’t read their text books, especially students of Class VI. And 46 per cent students of Class II are unable to read their books. We mapped every student.”
