The situation was similar,last year,when the test was conducted for the first time.
As the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) declared the results for the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) in Chandigarh,Panchkula and Mohali on Tuesday,the number of candidates qualifying in the test continued to be low this year as well. Of the total 26,000 candidates who appeared in the test this year,only 8 per cent (2,080) qualified in the exam,scoring above 60 per cent,the minimum passing limit. Of these,only 2.6 per cent (676) teachers could clear paper I pertaining to teaching of students up to class V and only 5.4 per cent (1,404) cleared paper II pertaining to teaching classes VI to VIII.
