This past Sunday, the largest annual sporting event took place in Glendale, Arizona, the host city of Super Bowl XLIX, or Super Bowl 49 – also called the the championship game of the National Football League (NFL). This year’s Super Bowl turned out to be a classic between the New England Patriots and last year’s champions – the Seattle Seahawks. There was a lot on the line for all concerned at this year’s game, with the Patriots looking to cement their legacy as a legitimate dynasty, and the Seahawks aiming for the rare feat of repeating as Super Bowl champions.
In the end, in a game that veered back and forth, the title was decided in the final 20 seconds as the Patriots, seemingly down and out, made a miraculous defensive play, aided in no small measure by a coaching lapse by the Seahawks, to win their fourth title, 28-24. With this win, the Patriots will now be considered one of the great sports dynasties of the 21st century.
