Kochi: A student from Kozhikode, ShafilMaheen N, got 4th rank in the highly competitive IIT-JEE (Advanced) engineering test. This is the first time a student from the state has made it to the top five in the engineering test, the results of which were announced Sunday.
As many as 1.74 lakh students registered for JEE (Advanced) this year. Of these, 6150 students are from Kerala and only 922 qualified. The last Keralite to make it to the top 10 was IAS officer RajuNarayanaSwamy, who got 10th rank in JEE. He later joined IIT, Madras.
